Amazon . com eyes laffers, kids content
Amazon . com might be following its rivals within the subscription VOD category into original programming. Job posts around the online retail giant's own website reveal Amazon . com is seeking executives able to developing halfhour comedies and youngsters programming. The posts first found light on tech blog GigaOm. The organization didn't react to inquiry seeking comment. Just a week ago, Amazon . com rejected to comment within an interview with Variety whether or not this had any curiosity about creating original programming because of its SVOD product, Amazon . com Prime Instant Videos. The posts don't specify the programming creation is particularly for Prime or its online store for any la carte transactions, Amazon . com Instant Video. The task is indicated to be underneath the auspices of Amazon . com Galleries, a division that came notice this past year for optioning movie scripts. Amazon's look for a comedy professional identifies, "The perfect candidate knows the comedy genre, has development and production experience and wishes to use authors and artists to build up original series for that web as well as for traditional distribution channels." Job duties connected using the position include assessing pilot plans and dealing with authors and artists to build up series ideas. While Amazon . com Prime has subsisted up to now on licensed catalog programming from a range of galleries and systems, rivals including Netflix and Hulu have moved beyond library fare to developing their very own original series as a way of distinguishing their services.
