New Hobbit Production Video Online

Jackson and co go on location...In case you missed us tweeting about it on Christmas Eve because you were too busy being excited about Santa delivering pressies, another bearded man brought a treat for us all. Yes, Peter Jackson released the latest production diary video for The Hobbit, and you can take a look below. The new footage examines the massive logistical challenge that is location shooting on the new films, and showcases how the crew deals with it. If you thought family camping holidays required a bit of organising, that's a piece of lembas bread compared to what's needed when hundreds of people unite to make a movie in remote chunks of New Zealand. But there's also a chance to appreciate the beautiful countryside once more being used to help bring JRR Tolkien's tales to life. Clearly intent on bringing the same scope to the Hobbit movies as he did to the Lord Of The Rings trilogy, Jackson has sought out some amazing vistas. There's also a chance to re-visit an old favourite place, with a segment of the vid dedicated to how the team has re-created Hobbiton on the same farmland as before, this time crafting the Hobbit homes in stone and wood so they can stand for years to come. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will arrive on December 14, 2012. There And Back Again will follow on December 13, 2013. For more on the movies, check out the latest issue of Empire, which is available right now.

An Dental Good reputation for 'Willy Wonka' Using the Stars from the Classic Film

Using the holidays here, you're ready to gather with your family watching a vacation classic. One movie that's certain to be seen many occasions -- whether you are catching among its many December airings or were sufficiently fortunate to get the 40th anniversary Collector's Edition Blu-ray like a gift this season -- may be the 1971 classic 'Willy Wonka and also the Chocolate Factory.' To celebrate the movie's long lasting fandom, Moviefone spoken with the heavens from the chocolate-covered classic and also got their first-hands account of creating the popular culture landmark. Have you ever desired to know what is was track of that boat ride with the tunnel, or learn which heavy metal and rock icon got star struck at the view of Veruca Salt, Moviefone has got the full story following the jump. Dealing With GENE WILDER Rusty Goffe (Oompa Loompa): Gene for the reason that time only agreed to be beginning to become a large star. He only agreed to be in 'Bonnie and Clyde' and that he was handed free reign to complete what he wanted. You needed to trust him to become an inventor while he invented each one of these amazing things. Mel Stuart (Director): It had been a pleasure, the two of us attempting to top one another: How strange can he be? For example, he begins speaking gibberish German, which was just something we made on the place. You'll even notice, further along within the picture, his hair would have more crazy, and that we stored focusing on attempting to make him as unpredictable as you possibly can. He was designed to look strange, twisted. We wanted a component of not-easiness about how exactly he'd react in each and every scene. Peter Ostrum (Charlie): Wonderful person to utilize. Behaved like a teacher in my experience starting the procedure, and incredibly encouraging, and merely an enjoyable experience to be with. He'd a pleasant spontaneity, not threatening whatsoever. Paris Themmen (Mikey Teevee): He loved me less because I had been the eleven years old hellion, amongst the well-socialized Denise, Julie, and Peter. There's footage of Gene disparaging me in a variety of interviews. "How would be the kids, Gene?" "Oh, four seem to be great and one of these I am likely to strangle tomorrow." There's another reason for the DVD footage where he states, "Oh, Paris, you will know I really like at this point you.Inch Denise Nickerson (Purple Beauregarde): Only the complete antithesis of a specific item on the watch's screen. However, as he broke into song within the tunnel -- no acting involved. I am thinking, "That's not to visit this movie, this guy is really a crackerjack. He's frightening me!" Exactly What The WAS THE TUNNEL SCENE ABOUT? Themmen: Whenever we shot the scene, they'd us ascend some steps to the boat to ensure that they might rock the boat around and do what they have to do. They forecasted behind us individuals terrible moments using the chicken getting his mind stop and also the centipede and the many other things. When I am included, I'm really being affected, I am scared, I am shooting my gun in internet marketing, I am offended. Goffe: I had been behind, around the wheel. After I first viewed it, it had been frightening, however it will get much more frightening when Gene sits there, and also the hair's going, and also the boat's going faster. We're able to only hear him singing, thinking "Why's he carrying this out?Inch However when we had it, it simply increases the spookiness. Watch the infamous tunnel scene Stuart: I needed to scare. And every one of that stuff around the wall was deliberately made to really make it look a bit nightmarish. You did not know in which the hell i was going ... the truly amazing factor relating to this film maybe it was wasn't created with a studio. Quaker Oats set up the cash and that i did not need to response to anybody. The way in which Used to do it had been the way in which I perceived it, that was very fortunate. I did not need to have people from Warner Siblings go, "Oh, gee, a lizard on the man's face, that's an excessive amount of.Inch Ostrum: It's among individuals moments you don't really obtain the full impact until you are within the theater watching. Julie Beginning Cole (Veruca Salt): The worst stuff never made the ultimate cut. MEETING 'FACTORY' AUTHOR ROALD DAHL Cole: I'd dinner with him prior to the relaxation from the kids showed up. He's very tall and incredibly frightening, and that i was perfectly-socialized only at that dinner because I felt like I had been almost being auditioned by him. Nickerson: He am unapproachable. Usually were built with a scowl on his face. A 13-year-old wouldn't go, "Hey guy! How ya doing!" You can tell he did not like children. But he'd his interpretation of methods this would go and that he wasn't pleased with the actual way it had been done. Ostrum: She has the figures type of selected in his mind, the things they would seem like and just how they'd act, therefore we appear, and I am sure it had been diverse from what his imagination brought him to think. It was hard for him. THE PURE IMAGINATION ROOM Nickerson: Whenever we opened up that door, being 13 and small in stature, it had been as an entire city, also it was all self-contained. All of the colors the thing is on film, won't ever rival my memory. Even today, I recieve breathless even considering it, it had been only the most awesome factor I'd seen. Themmen: Despite the fact that you recognized growing up actor it's a facade, it is a really fun facade. It is a beautiful, colorful facade. Cole: [Laughs] The cat's from the bag now, 'cause it has been a secret stored for a lot of a long time. Mel was adament that people weren't likely to observe that large reveal, but just before it, among the stagehands or set specialists building it stated "would you wanna take a look around?" It had not been finished, however i saw a great deal of it, and so i pretended. For three decades, I have pretended. THE Discomfort To Be A BLUEBERRY Nickerson: I did not consider the mirror. I will tell you it had been awful. Simply awful. Watch the film the next time, there is no acting involved. In the end individuals hrs I had been simply pissed off and incredibly uncomfortable. I had been blue and body fat. Mel Stuart designated a guy to roll me every 5 minutes. And That I would hang such as this and hang up like this, also it was hot and uncomfortable. The Oompas did not get their blueberry driver's licenses so that they visits produce a proceed individuals double doorways and miss. I'd hear Mel go "Ah! Try it again!Inch It had been a lengthy day. I view it now also it performed perfectly because I had been so ticked off, however i can't really say I had been giving an Oscar-winning performance. [Laughs] It genuinely only agreed to be the way i felt. FAVORITE MOMENTS In The FILM Ostrum: Jack [Albertson] was wonderful. Jack was as low-keyed and unpretentious associated with a person who I could've labored with. Dealing with Jack, dealing with Gene, my friendship together, made my role super easy to experience. Jack was wonderful. And today I am beginning to appear like Jack. Cole: It is the family gene. Your hair. All of the parents required proper care of their kids, they parented us. [Roy Kinnear] accustomed to let me know little poems and items to amuse me all day long lengthy. But he trained me techniques too, he was wonderful. My personal favorite scene may be the lady using the husband being kidnapped "Have you heard me? It is your husband's existence or perhaps your Wonka bars?" and she or he states "How lengthy will i reached think about it?Inch Themmen: I love the main one where I needed to consume the overflowing gum and crash into the containers and pans. I needed to complete multiple takes however they only did someone to maintain my safety simply because they were really copper containers and pans crashes lower around me. I loved the small psychedelic room where we are all thumping around. The one which will get more compact and more compact. What room wouldn't ya like? Stuart: No a person's likely to trust me, it had been Veruca singing 'I Need It Now' since it is a wonderful song, it's in three-quarter, the harmony, what, everything, it is a perfect song. Julie practiced it without me knowing. She and also the choreographer done it on their own free time. And when your perception again, her timing is really impeccable when she hits her father within the stomach around the beat, I simply loved which more than every other moment within the film. Watch Veruca Salt Perform 'I Need It Now' MOST MEMORABLE FAN ENCOUNTERS Cole: Ozzy Osborne, he requested the questions that you have most likely requested. "Was the river really chocolate? Where did put forth whenever you went lower the chute?" Which was very worthwhile. Goffe: I have run into fans who once they were youthful and viewed the film were absolutely frightened of the small orange males their mums and fathers would say, "If you do not behave yourself the small orange males can comeInch and a few fans, who have reached their 30s won't come near me. They'd stand there and go "ooh." These were trembling in fear. Themmen: There is a man who wanted my signature to ensure that he could tattoo it on his body there is a man who had an accumulation of celebrity hair who wanted a number of my hair. Hopefully he will not clone me from this we wouldn't want that. I have signed various areas of the body. I recall a lady that traveled around together with her taxidermized dog. She was writing me letters for some time but she'd her dog, which was stuffed, also it was together with her, simply because it had been a loving friend. Nickerson: [Like a teen] I never told anybody. I had been attempting to get to be the normal person, begin a new job, and so i could not perfectly get into the interview and go, "incidentally, I am the blueberry." It simply wouldn't have meshed well. It did not happen until the start of the 90s if this began being proven at Easter time, Christmas, Thanksgiving. I do not bypass stating it -- they might know me for 10 years and never know I had been inside it -- however when they are doing discover, they've two responses. One has become a smile another the first is "not a way!Inch I usually say, "I've got a far better imagination rather than lie, however about as being a fruit inside a kid's movie. Basically was gonna lie, however, I'd be Demi Moore in 'Striptease'!" I am so fortunate, really. Ostrum: It isn't one incident, a treadmill encounter. However, many encounters that fathers will reach me and state that their father required these to check this out film also it was the very first film they saw, and they've this type of a connecting that happened between father and boy likely to check this out film. Lots of people have explained that, so that's neat the film has already established an affect on other individuals lives, positive influences. I recieve a remove of individuals encounters. Stuart: [Fans] think it is a psychedelic trip. Remember it had been the 70s plus they thought "she ate the mushroom!" I have not taken a drug during my existence, I did not understand what these were speaking about. Psychedelic what? However they stated, "However the mushroom! She in the mushroom!" Which was funny in my experience. (From L to R: Julie Beginning Cole, Paris Themmen, Denise Nickerson. Thanks to Getty Images.) HOW DID THE Chocolate Really TASTE? Nickerson: The majority of it had been props when Julie needed to enter in the mushroom, that part was cream, so when I needed to chew the piece off a corner of the gummy bear, that whole factor was plastic except for your little piece. Things I really ate within the film were the bits of gum. So, Bazooka, Bazooka, Bazooka. It had been in the times before sugarless, and that i needed to blow bubbles for your entire movie. Ostrum: The majority of the chocolate which i had was Peter Paul Mounds introduced over in the U . s . States, not German chocolate. A lot of it would be a little around the stale side. So not the very best chocolate experience. However, Gene and that i experienced just a little tradition after lunch every day, we'd be walking to set and we'd share chocolate. Real chocolate. Good chocolate. This is a nice memory I've of Gene. Themmen: You realize, I had been just a little disappointed within the pure imagination room I acquired the gum. The gum was, you realize, gum. Cole: Your day we shot my song, was my thirteenth birthday. I have the birthday card you provided. Ostrum: Really? Cole: Yeah, I still first got it. They offered me a chocolate cake, that was fine, but growing up, I didn't like chocolate. And That I still can't stand chocolate. Ostrum: [Laughs] I really like chocolate. The dying of Kim Jong Il might have real-world implications far into 2012, but -- for the moment -- you are able to remember fondly the North Korean dictator's more ka-razy characteristics. Like how his ideas could control the sun and rain. Or that time Kim kidnapped a director and also the actress-wife, held them captive individually for five years, and finally hired those to make North Korean films which were not only "perfunctory." Dude will be a regular Robert Evans! Kim's obituary only makes passing reference to the the kidnapping of South Korean filmmaker Shin Sang-ok and also the Choi Eun-hee in 1978, but a 2003 Protector article round the bizarre incident goes far into what went down involving the dear leader and Shin inside the eight years just before the filmmaker steered obvious of North Korea permanently. After being kidnapped, Shin -- who had previously been known to as South Korea's reaction to Orson Welles because of his groundbreaking film working through the '60s and '70s -- tried to flee, which showed up him jail time No. 6, an area where he was handed grass, salt and grain for four years. Then, unexpectedly eventually in 1983, Shin was released and reunited along with his thought-to-be-dead wife inside a reception, where Kim presented the pair along with his vision money for hard times of North Korean filmmaking. "The North's filmmakers are merely doing perfunctory work. They don't have any new ideas," Kim apparently told the happy couple. "Their works have the identical expressions, redundancies, exactly the same type of plots. Our movies are filled with crying and sobbing. I didn't order those to portray that kind of factor." Kim, who written multiple books on film, considered themselves a film theorist. While he written in 'The Cinema and Directing': "The essential duty in the creative group is always to make revolutionary films of high ideological and artistic value, which can make a powerful contribution to arming people fully while using Party's monolithic ideology and which imbue the whole of society while using great Juche idea." That, plus less crying and sobbing. Following his "release," Shin made seven films with Kim Jong Il -- who socialized as executive producer -- including 'Pulgasari,' a North Korean undertake 'Godzilla' the Protector once known to love a "terrifically bad movie." No House vote yet on anti-piracy bill

Posted: Fri., Dec. 16, 2011, 10:52am PTBy The House Judiciary Committee adjourned on Friday without sending a controversial anti-piracy bill to the floor, amid strong indications that the committee will eventually pass the Stop Online Piracy Act.House Judiciary Committee chairman Lamar Smith (R-Texas) had hoped to clear the legislation before Congress goes on recess, but ran out of time as House members faced a floor vote on a $1 trillion spending bill to avert a government shutdown. He said that the markup will resume when Congress is next in session --- perhaps next year --- although no exact date has been set.Despite the delay, it was clear that the legislation had the votes.Opponents have proposed more than a dozen amendments, and others that were withdrawn, that they say would have added more due process protections into the legislation. They also sought measures that would limit the bill's emphasis on blocking websites that traffic in infringing content via steps to prevent searches from resolving to a site's domain name. All were turned back by wide margins on the committee.A chief opponent of the bill, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), admitted earlier today that he does not expect to prevail in efforts to narrow the legislation's scope. The changes that have passed have been relatively minor. They include measures holding copyright holders liable for court and other costs if a court determines that they knowingly misrepresented that a site is dedicated to infringing activities. Another amendment that passed calls for the Secretary of State to publish a report on the use of tools in other countries to block Internet access, and whether SOPA has been cited by authorities in other countries. Opponents worry that foreign governments will justify censorship by citing the U.S. anti- piracy measures. Contact the Variety newsroom at news@variety.com

ABC, however, will air four special episodes after its current ninth season ends its run on Jan. 13 with its 200th episode. The series, which features host Ty Pennington and a team including designer Michael Moloney visiting and rebuilding the homes of families in need, premiered in 2003 as a 13-part special to 12 million viewers on a Wednesday night, moving to its initial home on Sundays where it became a regular staple for its first eight seasons. The Extreme Makeover spinoff continued to grow, cracking the top 20 in viewership in its second season, averaging 15.8 million viewers per episode as it made its way to visit all 50 states helping veterans, victims of natural disasters, the homeless and foster care and adoption organizations. Hilary Swank on Attending Birthday of Accused Chechen Human Rights Violator: 'Shame on Me' (VIDEO)

It has been a rough two months for Hilary Swank. The two-time Oscar winner was at the center of an international scandal in October when she attended the birthday party of Chechen president Razman Kadryov, an accused human rights violator who has allegedly killed scores of his own people. In the fallout of the event, Swank received tons of bad press and was reportedly fired from her public relations firm; she also fired her long-time management team. On Friday night, Swank spoke about the mess for the first time to Jay Leno. In an interview on 'The Tonight Show,' Swank explained how she wound up in Grozny on Oct. 5 for Kadryov's birthday celebration. "I was invited by a Turkish real estate company to go and be a proponent of peace; help celebrate the rebuilding of a war-torn city. Grozny city, which is in Chechnya. I get offered appearances all the time. These people were trying to rebuild their lives too. Just seven years ago it was very war-torn and very dangerous. I thought, 'Absolutely, yes. That's an incredible thing; I love to travel, I love to meet people. This is an exciting opportunity.' "Then, once there, on the side of the stage, someone said, 'It's the president's birthday; can you wish him a happy birthday?' I had never heard of him before. In fact, when they said his name, I couldn't even say it. So I said, 'I'll just say Mr. President,' is what I'm thinking in my head. So, I went out and I said, 'Happy birthday, Mr. President,' after I said my whole speech about it's great to be a proponent of peace and you guys are doing incredible things rebuilding this city. When I got back, only then was I made aware of who he was. Kadryov. Now I can say his name because of I've done my research. He's a bad, bad guy. Human rights organizations had reached out to warn me before I went but I did not get those warnings, they weren't shared with me." Swank's now-fired manager, Jason Weinberg, was reportedly contacted about Kadryov by Human Rights Watch before she attended the event, which -- at the time -- he wasn't even aware of. Still, Swank told Leno that regardless of who knew what, she's ultimately to blame. "Shame on me," she said. "The bottom line is that I should know where I'm going and I should do my research. [...] I actually didn't know Chechnya was separate from Russia. I had no idea." Swank, who had previously apologized for the event, said that she's now working with human rights groups and donated all the money earned from Kadryov's birthday to good causes. "There's always a silver lining to things. I've learned a lot about the incredible things people are doing. The Human Rights Watch, I'm working incredibly closely with them." You can see Swank in theaters in 'New Year's Eve' on Dec. 9. Watch her interview with Leno below.
